30 Important Camping Tips
August 18th, 2009 at 15:02Your camping vacation can be a wonderful experience for you, your family and friends. The advices that we will give you here, will ensure you an unforgettable holiday!
Everything starts with building the camping tent.
1. If possible, it is good to do this while out there is still day. This will avoid unpleasant surprises, such as ants and bugs under the tent.
2. Choose a place to build, which is both wind and sun proof. For this purpose the best choice is to use the natural protection of the trees.
3. It is very important to place the camping tent at higher ground level. If it starts to raining the tents will not filled with water. Avoid also the dry mud, as this is the first place where the rainwater will be collected.
4. The location of the tent have to be in direction in which your head will be at a level higher than the rest of the body. (You’ll be surprised how many people make this mistake!)
5. If possible, avoid building the tent under trees, under which is likely to fall resin on the tent.
6. If there is more space, you can strain another tent, as this will protect you from sun, rain, and will also provide additional space where you can save some of the dry stuff such as clothes, shoes, etc.
7. If camping at the beach, avoid places exposed to wind such as sand dunes. Find shelter next to bushes or trees.
8. Be careful with wild animals! Do not irritate them!
9. In the mountains, do no build camping tents at places between peaks, as they may be open and dangerous. Use protected areas as a rock and river terraces.
What to carry with you when going on a camp?
10. Make a list of items and write down everything you have prepared.
11. Take medicines, bandage and dressing materials – you may need to use them.
12. Carry matches or lighter.
Around the fire
13. Choose the location for the fire, so that the wind will not bear the smoke and sparks towards the tents or yourself.
14. Star the fire at a safe place, so it won’t become danger for the environment.
15. Be careful what you put in the fire – do put plastic bottles and bottles under pressure. The last can explode.
16. Put out the fire well before going to bed.
17. Be sure that the sleeping bags are suitable for conditions in which you camp.
The tent
18. Check the place selected for the tent for ants, holes or other animals before placing it there.
19. Keep the tent tightly closed continuously, to prevent the entry of insects in it.
20. Do not leave shoes or his clothes out for the night – will get wet, but also will attract spiders and other insects. However, every time before you put them on or something, check them.
21. At night, after you’ve finished the dinner, do not leave food out. Otherwise, you will enjoy the company of the animals.
22. Bring with you something against mosquitoes.
Camping with kids
23. When camping with children do not forget that you need more space and comfort. Your tent should be large enough.
24. If possible, bring in small tent in which your children can play.
25. Do not carry unnecessary toys. Be creative and use what nature provides – water, stone, sand, etc. For rainy days it is good to have a handy list, pencils and / or markers, duck tape, games and books.
26. Usually, children eat more when they are in the nature. Bring enough fruit, biscuits and sweet things.
27. Children like water. Find a suitable and safe place where they can enjoy it, and you can monitor them. Remember to frequently smear them with sunscreen cream.
Outdoor cooking
28. Choose meals that can be quickly and easily prepared and plan them in advance. Better bring more food than less.
29. Necessarily carry the following main products: salt, pepper, sugar, oil, soups, canned food, nuts and lots of water.
30. Here’s an interesting recipe which you can use to diversify your menu – Cut orange in two pieces, and then carve them. Crack raw egg and put it in. Then put the orange peel in the fire. Wait until the egg become white.
